Most of us grillers have made mistakes when we are cooking out on our grills. To prevent our cookouts from becoming a burnout, there are certain things that we need to avoid doing. From how long we cook our food to the temp. that we cook it at, there are mistakes we need to not do when we are cooking for a barbecue.

Preheat Your Grill Before You Fill It The biggest mistake that those of us that cookout happens even before we put the meat on the grill. Instead of staying on the grill, it will drip down the sides of it. The remaining oil will burn onto the metal because the grill gets very hot. Instead, we should apply oil directly to the meat and vegetables prior to grilling them.

Filling The Grill With Too Much Food

Putting too much food in a pan is not a good idea. Neither is filling a grill with too much food. Not only will the food not cook as it should, it will not be easy to turn either. It is also difficult to keep track of too much food. Instead of putting all the food we need to cook on the grill at the same time, we could start with the vegetables that do not need a long time to cook. Then we can cook the meat. Another idea would be to cook the meat and then put the vegetables on a cooler part of the grill and let them roast slowly.

Using Barbecue Utensils The Right Way

A lot of times us grillers will use tongs to flip fish, pizza, burgers, and brisket with tongs. This is not a good idea due to the fact that they will pull the bark off of brisket, tear up a burger, shred fish, or put holes in a pizza. When we grill these foods, we should use a spatula to turn.them. Tongs are ideal to use with hot dogs, chicken, steak, pork chops, ribs, and skewers.
