Recommended: School lunch options
The entire day is composed of students being herded in masses to and from classrooms and eating the awful food. America needs to rethink how high schools work, and the best way to start is to allow open-campus lunches. Allowing students to leave campus and purchase their own food gives the students the freedom to make choices. This is a freedom every American has and is the basis of capitalism. Plain and simple, cafeteria food is disgusting.
Some people may argue that school lunches are not healthy enough and need to be changed to foods that are more nutritious.
Children all across the U.S. are forced daily to eat substandard, school-provided lunches. Attaining these lunches are an expensive and time-consuming process. Often, children don’t even enjoy or eat them. Therefore, kids should be allowed to bring their own lunches to school. To start with, most students do not enjoy school-provided lunches, or are allergic to them; this leads to children throwing away from lunches and not eating.
Changing the school lunch menu is something that the students of Potomac Falls High Shool have been dreaming about. For years Potomac Falls has had horribe and unappetizing meals. The food products are cheap and low quality. The portions are not enough for a High School student, and there should be alot more different entrees to choose from.
Wouldn't it be marvelous if schools had a food court? As excited as that sounds, almost all schools don't have food courts provided. Only the richest school districts provide students and staff an inside food court. However, lunch time is an important meal, and it should be spent the way students like. Whether it is a McDonalds hamburger, or a Panera bread salad special, the students should have the freedom to choose.
This resulted in school meals that were loaded with pasta, bread, corn and potatoes. Where's the Lunch Money? Although nutrition is a top priority, cost is also a major concern for schools and the government. Most school districts receive $2.68 for each free lunch they serve.
The principal is trying to change school lunch menu's to healthier meals. I strongly believe that this is a good idea to change the lunches because of the following reasons: healthier meals makes kids grow big and strong, it gives you more energy to move around, and it taste delicious. Schools all around should consider changing their lunches for the better of their student. This is for the better of the student to have healthy food. I will go into greater detail in the following paragraphs.
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
I strongly believe that the cafeteria menus should be changed in order to have a fair and much healthier lunch. Money may be an issue but there are plenty of ways to solve this world wide problem in the schools. Before there wasn't as much diversity and most people would have agreed to choose from two options what to eat. Now there are vegans, vegetarians, and plenty of allergies that could cause problems for someone
What would you do for lunch and how would you explain it to your parents after school? Students have been known to not eat lunch at school very often because, for the main reason, they don’t like it. Others say that they “aren’t hungry”, but you never know. Schools should just make the lunch more healthy and taste better. Almost all students would agree that the best time they have during school, is the time of school lunch. It is the time when they can relax with their friends and receive energy from food for the rest of the day. A lot of schools have problems with their lunch menu. Usually, school cafeteria gives students not very healthy variety of food. In most cases it's fast food, that is not good for teenagers body and health.
To begin with, the taste alone of school lunches is beyond unsatisfactory. The meals provided by public schools are not appetizing. There exists a tangible disconnect between the enticing, nutritious meals advertised on the school board’s menus and what the students actually receive—pathetic portions and lukewarm meals slapped onto a tray. Children’s complaints about school lunches are often seen as trite. However, while common, they are not any less accurate.
We need better food at school because the food is not that good. We can start by healthy food, nachos and soft tacos are not healthy food more choices better food more recipes to cook. If the food was better there would be less waste. Some of my friends do not like the food.
The school lunches impacting more than just the schools money, it’s impacting the students education and after school activities just like sports teams. Imagine a school that has multiple healthy school food options, that is worth standing in line for. I think that all schools should have a healthy school lunch. It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day. I think we should have better and healthier school menus. Our school menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat.
