Thank you for this opportunity to apply for the position of In-school CoL Teacher. I believe I am well suited to this position and if selected would ensure that this role is introduced to Kaimai School in a way that enables its continued success.

A new position whose scope has yet to be fully discovered, such as this one, requires a person who is flexible in their thinking and prepared to try new things. This position also requires someone who is able to see solutions and ways to customise a model appropriate to Kaimai School. I work hard in my classroom to build positive relationships with all, acknowledging them as individuals and allowing for their different ways, expectations and capabilities. I offer choices in approaches to their work including a choice of content, method of presentation, and the choice to work as individuals or a group. This approach underlies all aspects of my classroom programme, allowing ākonga to access prior learning and making learning more relevant to their interests and capabilities, acknowledging the wider reality of their lives .

Engagement with stakeholders is another aspect of cultural responsivity and one which I look forward to improving through this role. I believe I have a good relationship with the parents of my students who wish to be engaged, and make myself available beyond the requirements of the current framework that Kaimai School operates.
