My mom called the police when I told her a few weeks later. They didn’t even investigate. They said since it was a girl doing it to a guy, it was just “experimentation.” Said it was okay.” Studies show that when a man reports getting raped police and investigators are less likely to take the charges seriously than when a women does the same. For these men, having their claims ignored can be like rubbing salt in an open wound.

Men face additional challenges because of stereotypes and social attitudes about men and masculinity. Adam, a survivor of sexual assault says: There’s a stigma attached to it. On the other hand, in a case where a man is being sexually assaulted by a woman, if he fights back, he will surely get as much blame as if he was the one raping a woman, It is a no win
