Howard Dully Lobotomy

198 Words1 Pages
Howard Dully, a normal 12 year-old, acted like a normal everyday kid. He would pick on his siblings, struggle with some subjects in school, and liked to scare people. But his stepmother, Lou, thought that he was a troublemaker. She was told, from Dr. Freeman, that a lobotomy was the way to go. A 12 year-old boy should never have to go through such an inhumane procedure. Like any average kid in school, he got some good grades and some bad ones. He excelled in math, history and art. “I got A’s and B’s in history and art, because they interested me”(29). If that means that any kid that doesn’t get straight A’s in school should get a lobotomy then almost every kid would be emotionless. Lou was not a very understanding, compassionate stepmother.
