At Hughes Magnet School, a team conducted a meeting to discuss some educational problems a student was having in a teacher’s classroom. The team came together to decide what the concerns of the teacher are about the student and how to properly help with those concerns. They are called an intervention team and are a group of other educators that will collaborate with the teacher to design an individual plan for that student. The purpose of the meeting was because a student named Mary was referred by her teacher as to having difficulty with staying on task and being focused. She also noticed that Mary was having quite a bit of trouble with reading at her level. She is a third grade student and is only at that of a student ending first grade and beginning a second grade level of reading. In addition, to the reading, Mary is only at the instructional level of a student in the middle of first grade after a curriculum based assessment was performed. An observation was also conducted and found that Mary does well with Math and will stay on task more when there is not much reading and also works well in group assignments. When she observed reading, she was out of her seat within 10 mins and became disruptive. She was only on task for about 60% of the time while the observation was completed. I felt all the educators supported each other and displayed a professional and supportive teaching environment. All the educators continually suggested ideas and trusted each other opinions. Everything discussed was pulled from recorded data and nothing of any basis from Mary’s teacher. The teacher made sure to inform Mary’s mother of this meeting and would set up a later date to discuss everything. Overall, the meeting went very smooth and was enjoyable to see educators work so well together for the betterment of a
