3. Write a short essay on either the pitfalls with Human Experimentation OR the shortcomings of Experimental Research (CHAP14) Experimentation with humans has always been a controversial topic. Any person that agrees to take part in an experiment is curious as to what will happen. There is always opposition to human experimentation because people think it may be unethical. One of the issues Scientist often encounters is drawing a line between acceptable and unacceptable methods of treating subjects. One of the most common types of human experimentation is the double blind experiment. The double blind experiment is an experiment that is often used with human subjects, to control any possible placebo effect. Subjects that agree to participate …show more content…

Write a short essay on either the concept of Hypothesis Testing OR Attempts to generalize research findings. Before being able to fully understand the term hypothesis testing and it’s concepts we must understand the meaning of hypothesis and hypothesis test as well as the difference between each other. Hypothesis is a supposition made of limited evidence that can led to further investigation. On the other hand hypothesis testing is a process where the Scientist analyzes that data of the hypothesis and they either accept or reject such hypothesis. There are several steps that are taken when testing a hypothesis. These steps consist of different rules that will help the Scientist decide whether to accept the hypothesis or reject it. Step one, state the hypothesis; step two set the criteria for a decision, step three compute the test statistics, and step four make a decision. In the first step you state the value of a population mean in a null hypothesis, which we presume is true. In step two you set the criteria for a decision, for doing so you have to state the level of significance for a test; you collect data to show that the null hypothesis is not true. In step three you compute the test statistic, to make a decision we need to evaluate how likely the sample outcome is. Last step, you make a decision. To make a decision about the null hypothesis you use the value of the test statistics. The researcher can either reject the null hypothesis if the mean is associated with a low probability of occurrence when the null hypothesis is true; or he can accept the null hypothesis if it has a high probability of
