Good evening to you all who have joined us here tonight.
And to you class of 2017, congratulations. You will probably be hearing that many more times from your family and friends.

First off, I would like to quickly congratulate my family who has helped me get here tonight. I’d like to thank my sister Areli Hernandez, for aiding me in every way that I needed her to. As well as her, the rest of my siblings Yesenia, Abraham and Luis Medina and of course my father, Valente Hernandez Guerrero, and mother Natividad Bautista. In high school, I have Mr. Tony Bergeron to thank for sparking my interest in government and giving valuable life lesson Coach Toney Linn who pushed me and guided me to become a better athlete. I come from a family of immigrants that escaped hopelessness from their home country. They came to a successful country that allowed our whole family to thrive. For all this, I am infinitely grateful to the components that make this nation so magnificent and I hope to someday contribute to its greatness whether it be through the military or some humanitarian effort. My fellow graduates, you’ve reached the end of one chapter. You are now on the cusp of adulthood armed with the sufficient basic skills to go into a variety of careers or continue education in the workforce, military, or college. In every act you do, keep in mind why it is that you're doing it and hopefully you're doing it for the most virtuous reasons-whether it be through maintaining the electricity lines on our roads functional or advising a client on a financial situation. Additionally, it’s important to remember that monetary gains is not the priority in life, rather it's the self-actualization and satisfaction from serving others. Give back to community with your service and the country as a whole will continue to maintain and advance in its undisputed reputation as one of the greatest places to live in.
