This song have showed us very different representation of what it means to be our own person and what this world has come to. Macklemore shows us makes us realize we buy things based on what’s popular and makes us fits in, how we let material items determine our identities and change who we are as people, the people we look up to make us do things and how Americans buy items based on an advertisement. He brought back a way that was effect knowing we would listen because it came in a form that was direct, but you would not understand if you did not listen so closely. With what message we were giving are you really going to let matlertic items make you as a person or are you going to be yourself creating your own identity by standing outside
At this point in the novel, I believe that the 'Coming of Age ' motif is becoming very recurring as the book goes on. Charlie is starting to reminisce more and think about things as a mature adult would. Mr. Etheridge made a very good analogy in class the other day, he said that as a kid you do not think about getting your new clothes dirty when you play outside. However, once you start maturing you question if it is worth it or not to get comfortable and sit on the grass and risk dirty clothing or suffer and stand. This really interested my because I can relate to this.
Everyone Grows Up Sometime: Coming of Age in To Kill a Mockingbird Prior to the spring break of my seventh grade year, I didn’t know how harsh the world could really be. I mean I knew about sickness, violence, death, all that good stuff, but I just sort of blew it off because nothing in my life had happened to where I needed to face those things. When I was 12 during spring break, I was as happy as any child would be on their spring vacation, but one day my parents pulled me and my brother aside and told us some pretty devastating news. They had told us that our grandfather had passed away in a house fire a few days ago.
I feel like this section of this book dives deeper into the theme of loss of innocence, and into the the coming of age theme. At the beginning of the section of the book, while Baby was returning home with her Father Jules she made the statement that ‘’The clouds got thicker and gray over us .The calm before the storm made me feel excited. It gave me the feeling things were about to change.’’(O’Neill 90). This quote really foreshadowed the aspect that things are going to change in Baby’s life.

I have recently read your article “Hip Hop Planet” where you discussed the global impact of hip hop. During your introduction, you expressed your nightmare where it revealed your fears, and values. You evinced that rap, which changed the world, now rules the world which left you feeling behind and uncomfortable; a stranger to it. You experienced a nightmare vision where your daughter fell in love and married a stereotypical thuggish rapper, which caused you to rethink your ideas of hip hop. You experienced hip hop right as it started to originate, and as a result, unknowingly influenced you throughout the rest of your life.
In the early 2000s, controversy from rap music happened again. Eminem made his return to the rap game with his new album titled “The Marshall Mathers LP,” and one particular song on the album sparked a lot of controversy that song is “Kill You.” A line from the song reads: "S***, you think I won 't choke no w****/till the vocal cords don 't work in her throat no more?" This song blew up; most people were now against Eminem because he promoted violence against women. In October of 2000, Eminem went to perform at Toronto’s Sky Dome, where he was stopped at Canada’s border.
In the first verse, “You never liked us anyway, fuck your friendship, I meant it I'm African-American, I'm African I'm black as the moon” it establishes an overall scene of hatred and violent stereotyped feeling throughout the song. This part of the verse prepares the listeners to hear the instrumentation, which backs up the feeling of hatred that is exposed through lyrics. The overall tone throughout the song remains to be monotonous. The chorus, in the beginning starts off from a lower pitch and in to a higher pitch.

I would like to make a toast to my parents, I want to start by thanking them for all that they have done for me. I can say without a doubt that they have made me into the person I am today. I can’t thank them enough for taking me to dance, gymnastics, softball, baseball and 4-H practices. A huge thanks goes to my mom because I don’t know how she managed to care for me and my brother or keep the house up and work all while my dad was over seas. People say that my Dad is a hero and he is, but Mom your superwoman.
