Hunger Games: The Reaping

Hunger Games is well- known series movie and a book series. In this series, there are twelve districts and each year there is an event that is called, “The Reaping.” At this event, there are two people that are chosen out of a bowl from each district, one boy and one girl. The individual that is picked out of the bowl then goes into an arena to fight for their life. During their time in the arena, they need to find their own food and shelter, while also trying to stay alive and not get killed by the other individuals in the arena. In the book and in the movie, parts are taken place in District 12 and then the Capitol, which is where the arena is located. District 12, is where Katniss is from and is one of the poorest districts out of all. It is one of the smallest districts in Panem and is known for coal mining. District 12 is very grimy and secluded, and getting food is hard. This is where Katniss got her skill of hunting from. The Capitol is then considered to be a rich area. Everyone in the Capitol is dressed well and has food that they do not need to hunt for. Everything is also very retro and futuristic. When Katniss and Peeta, the male victor from district 12, arrive in the Capitol, they are not used to any of it. They have more food than they know what to do with, they also have nice beds, showers, and clothes. When they start in the games, they are in a forest area. There are lots of trees and few places to get water. This environment is very good for Katniss because she is able to hunt. In the arena, the game makers can change anything to their preference. As I mentioned above, the major differences were appearance and point of view. The other information that was mentioned is very similar to each other, just with less detail. In my opinion, you have to read the books to get a better understanding what is occurring in the movie. This happens in a lot of book series that turn into movies. Overall, the book was better by far. The movie left out significant parts, this is because they wanted to make it more suitable for a younger audience. In my opinion, they should have aimed this series at a particular age group. For example, older teens. If they aimed it at that particular age group, they could have allowed more scenes to be shown. The film is rated PG-13. This is still very young for some children, considering there is a lot of violence that happens. There is killing, fighting, and there are some scenes that could have escalated into something
