In scenario number four, the president of a hunting club must exemplify the values of responsible and ethical hunting. The president of a hunting club must choose someone who also exemplifies those same values when they step down. Keeping with those two points I cannot and would not support my friend for president of the hunting club because he is neither a responsible or ethical hunter. My friend is unethical and therefore unfit to lead because he engages in illegal hunting practices. The law is very clear how many deer a hunter can bag during the season. Shooting and taking more than the allotted number of deer home could have catastrophic consequences for the deer and the overall ecosystem. The limit is in place to ensure that there will be deer to hunt in the feature. We as hunters must ensure that enough are left in the wild so that they can breed and continue on the deer species and also so that we as hunters have something to hunt the next season. Now if it’s just in that particular area, his impact on the population is not going to be that large or severe. But, put him in a leadership position where he can influence others and there’s going to be a problem. The others may start to believe if their president can bag that many deer with no consequences for his actions than surely, they can too. They begin to take more and more home and soon enough the deer population is almost completely depleted. It is my belief that telling him could lead to a change in his behavior. I would hope that he would realize that his actions are wrong and have always been wrong. I would also hope that he would apologize to both myself and the club for leading us to believe that his actions are okay. After, I would hope that he would take responsibility for his actions and not just make an empty promise. After all of that has been done, I would hope that he would correct his behavior and behave like the responsibly and ethical hunter I know that he can be and that means only taking home what the law allows you too. After all of these changes, I would support for the presidency so he may encourage and inspire others to be more responsible and ethical hunters.
