Deer hunting has been a long running controversy for some groups in the United States, some groups are more vocal than others on their negative views on hunting. These groups believe that hunting is cruel, the animal suffers, and it is an outdated sport. The truth of the matter is without deer hunters many deer would starve to death.
Some states where deer overpopulation is not an issue, will issue a certain number of permits for that season. The Department of Fish and Wildlife for most states will use helicopters and small planes to fly over and count the number of deer.
