The Persuasions in Hunting Game hunting is not a topic of little discussion. Some people are intrigued by the sport while others spend countless hours of their time fighting against it. Is either side considering the benefits and downfalls of the other in an impartial manner, though? Likely not. However, these parties do strive to be persuasive towards other prospective groups that have not previously associated with one side or the other. Similar to most controversies, the people that are for the sport have usually been raised around it or grew a passion for it later while the ones that are against it have had a bad experience or have been offended by it in the past. When analyzing the persuasive tactics of each side, it is noticeable that there are two main themes that each one focuses on. People working against animal cruelty sometimes place hunting in that category. Similar to commercials for animal rescue leagues, they take the worst cases they have ever seen and put them on display in hopes of invoking feelings of guilt and disgust in their viewers. They associate hunting with cruel human behavior by highlighting the consequences seen by showing off those animals, thus persuading people to fight for limits or bans on hunting in their area. While both sides are constantly pursuing new members and activists, some people still tend to go back to their roots and experiences with the sport to determine their opinion of it. Sometimes, though, a person’s only exposure to hunting is what they have seen in the media.
