Good evening my fellow Americans. I am speaking to you tonight from Louisiana after Hurricane Glenn ripped through this state causing devastation on our country. Louisiana is in a state of emergency. This hurricane has left Louisiana flooded, destroyed homes and business, and taken lives. Many of our citizens are searching for their family and friends and grieving over those who were taken by this horrific storm. Thousands of residents have been displaced. They have lost their homes along with all their personal, precious belongings. Our fellow Americans need our help to overcome the tragedy that has uprooted their lives.
Many people are looking towards the government for help and I have been asked to approve a $20 million dollar bill …show more content…

The government does not have the power to pass out charity, nor does the government have the right to decide who is in more need of these monies than other American’s. To pass this bill means that I feel the citizens of Louisiana deserve government charity over other American’s that are homeless, or a family that lost their home to a fire, or lost their belongings to a tornado. Should the government appropriate funds to all in need? Would this not be considered stealing from those who have paid taxes and trusted in the government to spread those taxes across the American public …show more content…

Please let us come together to support our fellow American’s that have been devastated by this horrific storm. Let us open our hearts and our doors and prove what a great country the United States of America is. If America wants to help Louisiana, we cannot depend on the government to do so, we must depend on each and every one of us that have built this great nation. This may be accomplished by donating monetary gifts to the numerous charitable organizations that are already assisting the Louisianans. If every American citizen donated a dollar to this relief we would raise 318 million dollars. This is almost 300 million more than what the proposed bill would provide. We can also help by giving our time. There are many organizations that would be grateful for volunteers to assist with rebuilding Louisiana. I ask that we pull together and restore
