The automobile has seen many changes in its lifetime but has seen some of the most advances changes in mine. Since 1995 the automobile has not only become an art with is drastic body design changes but also one of the most technologically advanced master pieces in its time. Through the years and to this day the automobile grows to be something unique with its own characteristics that continue to blow us away. Vehicles that were once known as automobiles of the future now sit in the driveways of millions across the world.

In december of 1997 toyota presented the first generation toyota prius hybrid vehicle to the japanese market.in 1999 it also became the first hybrid car to be sold in north america since 1917. Taking the world by storm the hybrid sold two million units by 2010. The hybrid electric vehicles combines gasoline and electric power to improve fuel economy and reduce fuel emission which damage the environment. The first gasoline-electric hybrid was released in 1911 by woods motor vehicle company.
With its limited speed of about 20 mph and it difficulty with service it proved itself too expensive and overall a commercial failure. Although it was known for its limitaions it did have some advantages over the gasoline competitors of the early 1900s such as not needing a hand crank which was used to start the engine, noise reduction, lack of smell, and vibrations caused by the gasoline engine. The hybid was soon marketed as a city vehicle where its limitations were no longer an issue. in 2008 telsa motors released the tesla roaster the first all electric vehicle to travel more than 200 miles per charge. Seatbealts were introduced in the state of victoria in 1964 but the requirement was made compulsory in the 1970s. By the 1980s most countries had a mandatory seat belt law. it wasnt until the mid 1990s that the national level of traffic accident fatalaties increased and the United states set a goal to increase seat belt use 65% to 85%. By 2005 they raised the goal to 90%. Federal government encouraged law enforcement in the states to adopt stronger seat belt laws.
In 2013 the department of local vehicles released a statement stating that the highway death rate had decreased by 25% since the year 2004.
