I Have A Dream
Dr. Martin Luther King was an outstanding African American gentleman. He was one of several African Americans fighting for civil rights. Dr. King decided to step completely out of his comfort zone and become one of the biggest demonstrations for freedom in the history of the nation. He gave several commendable speeches; some made people proud and others furious. One of Dr. King’s most popular speeches would be “I have a dream”, in this speech he speaks strongly about equality. King dreamed of the black and white races coming together as one. Today in 2018 has the dream come true, or are we still waiting upon the amazing dream? There is no doubt that the African American race has become successful. African Americans have been named for Nobel Peace prizes, extremely great athletes, and America has even seen a black president. The nation has stepped up ensuring equal opportunity to all races. America has made tremendous progress since king’s time. After all we have come a long way since blacks and whites could not drink out of the same water fountain, could not sit in the same lobby, or even go to school together. …show more content…

Evident of racism still hold strong everywhere in the United States. Dr. King dreamed that one day everyone would be treated equally. Obviously not everyone is treated equal and that stands clear in police brutality, job ratings and prison numbers in the African American race. Racism even still lives in the churches, only allowing one race, because apparently only one race gets to heaven which is false. Yes maybe America has come a very long way, but most definitely not where king wanted to be. He fought hard and even lost his life for these rights. He did not fight for where American stands today on
