The differences I notice between the monologues are significant. The option A monologue to the parent is very much trying to appeal and deceive the mother, while also trying to to curry favor with her by saying things like " you really do know what’s best for me sometimes" and " I love you mom". The option B monologue to the friend has a very excited tone, and reveals that most of what was said in option A was a deception. The purpose of this monologue seems to be to earn status and respect from the friend. The word choice and tone that is most effective in option A would be the disappointed tone and wording like "I should have just listened to you and stayed home to study".
