The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a terrorist group in Syria, Iraq and Libya, aiming to capture land to convert into an Islamic Caliphate; they have made their point by using internet propaganda to recruit people from all over the world to join their movement in the Middle East. This has led to ISIS becoming one of the most talked about movements of this century. ISIS, unlike many other terrorist groups, can trace its history directly back to the Sunni terrorist organization Al Qaeda, specifically the Iraq faction (ABCNews, 2015). ISIS followers are determined to achieve a caliphate, and will not only take their own life, but the life of others for their belief.

The regions where they have successfully taken over are areas of weakness. They have tried to take over larger cities but have failed, due to the cities forces and airstrikes made by the U.S. ISIS’s main method of distributing propaganda is arguably social media. They use social media to strike fear in the hearts of many people around the world. Also by using propoganda they can recruit people from all around the world. "More than 12,000 foreigners are believed by intelligence services to have traveled from across the planet to fight in extremist groups in Syria and Iraq."(Tarabay, 2014). The backgrounds of the volunteers are so varied that it's difficult to decipher the single shared base thought driving their decisions to join the Extremist group ISIS (Tarabay, 2014). Some even fear that through their indoctrination "Fanboys of ISIS"(Tarabay, 2014) may independently carry out an attack in the west on the ISIS's behalf without ever have making any formal contact with Baghdadi's group.
