The first legislation I will discuss is ‘Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regulations (2002)’ which is used to reduce the risk of injury whilst doing an activity. It can be used in any line of work, and you have to consider safety factors about it. When using personal protective equipment, they must check if it is suitable for use, if it offers the right protection for the user, or if it needs replacing, because if it needs replacing then it is not fit for purpose. As the virus took over, everywhere around the world shut down, putting everyone’s lives on hold. Stuck in quarantine for months on end, with schools and jobs closed, people now would have to rely on digital technology to keep up with life. From having schoolwork on a zoom call to online telehealth visits or scrolling endlessly on social media to stay updated with the world, digital technology has taken over significantly more during Covid-19.
Health and safety at work act 1947 The health and safety at work is the legislation, which covers the employees’ health and safety in the UK. The law requires a high level of management that employers must follow, they must look at risks and assess them and take a sensible measure to prevent these risks from happening. This policy and procedures is for Risk assessments and the fire policy/procedure. This promotes safety because care organisations have to make sure that they are able to provided a safe environment in a health and social care setting.

It is important that these legislations are followed by service providers in order for them to promote safe practice and to fully understand their responsibilities under these legislations. Some of the legislations include the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Care Act 2014, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2010.

A key part of legislation is to make these people officers and apply rules towards these individual’s duty of care. They cannot opt out of this responsibility. In short, duty of care refers to a work environment being safe and secure.
