Have you ever wondered who you would be and what you would do if you were a character in a book? If I were a character from Pilgrim’s Progress I would be Diligence. I believe that like myself and those around me, Christian would have greatly benefitted from a friend like Diligence on his journey to the Celestial City. One of my defining characteristics is diligence. Diligence is defined as the “constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.” (dictionary.com) Even though I encounter difficulties in school, even to the point of tears, I have been and hope I always will be resolved to persevere. After working through struggles with schoolwork, I find that it was worth the effort and that I might even enjoy it. By being prepared, I can participate in conversation and activities that benefits other students, as well as myself. When other students and I are prepared for class, we spur each other on our educational journeys and, like the Bible says in Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” …show more content…

Worldly Wiseman. As we walked, I would share with Christian about my immense preparations for my journey, including how I participated in strenuous exercise and packed food fit for travel. Even though I had worked tremendously hard on my preparations, I still met with adversity. There were steep hills, pouring rain, and immense disappointment. However, I was resolved not to be defeated and I strove to press on. I would relate to Christian how other pilgrims spurred me on to continue the journey and not give up. Unfortunately, Christian and I would part ways at Mount Sinai where he would attempt to go to the town of Morality to have his burden
