Allowing Illegal Immigrants in the U.S. During the late Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries, the number of illegal and undocumented immigrants living in the United States has developed to a prodigious number. Most of these immigrants are coming from Mexico and Central American countries. Although the number of undocumented and illegal immigrants has grown over the past couple of decades, there is still the issue of them being illegal. There are many arguments as to who should be allowed to stay and for what reasons. Leisure and hospitality are the jobs that most illegal immigrants take up, 1.3 million out of approximately eight million currently in the United States (Ehrernfreund 1). If all these people were deported, it would result in a eight percent decline over the long term. As for the agricultural department, deportation would result in a nine percent decline. A reason as to why people believe that is, is because they think illegal immigrants are huge reasons for why the crime rate in the United States is so high. Why undocumented immigrants are seen this way is because America is trying to get rid of the immigration problem. The illegal and undocumented immigrants stand out, so when they commit a crime, it gets more publicity as to when a regular American citizen commits that crime. Even though this is true, if a Latino man commits the crime of murder, that news will get more publicity than if an American man were to commit that same crime. Adding on to that, a small percentage of illegal immigrants even are under that category of crime, and many are simple human beings trying to live their lives
