Christopher Columbuses rise in power was when failing to gain support for his project in Portugal, he decided to move to Spain, where, he won the help of the Catholic Monarchs, Queen Isabella of Castile and King Ferdinand of Aragon. They gave him part of their fortune to finance his venture across the ocean they gave him 345,000 maravedis which in today's money that is USD 32,904.64. He then set out to sea and landed in the Bahamas as we know it today.
Christopher Columbus's achievements are made up of four trips across the Atlantic Ocean to look for a quicker way to India and Asia He ended up discovering the Caribbean Islands, North America, and South America. Some of his other accomplishments are in 1492 Christopher Columbus made landfall in what is now the Bahamas. In 1493 Columbus founded the short-lived town of Isabella. 1498 he left Spain with six ships, three filled with colonists and three with provisions for the colony on Hispaniola. Christopher Columbus also explored uncharted areas to the west of the Caribbean, hopefully finding a passage west to the Orient in 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he stumbled upon the Americas.
