Would you kill someone or something to stop being irritated by them? In The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe, we get the inside scoop of the murder our unnamed narrator committed. This nameless man decided to kill his neighbor because he felt discomfort every time the victim’s eye looked at him (pg. 132). This madman decided that the only way to stop the piercing blue eye was to kill its owner. We can all relate to this psychopath even though most of us feel like we could never commit such a crime. The reason why we can relate to him is because we all have imperfections, we all take precaution, and we have all spoken highly of ourselves. Everyone can agree that no one is perfect. Having killer instincts is agreeably an imperfection. This imperfection isn’t something small, though. You could get thrown in the asylum if anyone was to learn about your deadly thoughts. The narrator believes he is a sane person. He doesn’t think that his sickening thoughts are abnormal. The narrator unknowingly accepts he is mental, but he kills a man instead of getting medical help. Some people change their imperfections for medical reasons, or for personal reasons. If something went wrong in the killer’s plan and the culprit wasn’t found, the old man would never suspect the kind gentleman for intruding his house.
