Human interaction is based on a complex system of behavior and personality. We communicate verbally, although most of our communication is perceived non-verbally through body language. A majority of human interaction is based on a person’s explicit reaction to the surrounding environment. Most people feel comfortable around others with similar interests or race, this is due to the subconscious attraction we have to familiarity. The biggest controversy over human interaction is that between whites and blacks. There is an unknown feeling that is forever lasting, that causes tension between white people and black people. They concluded that explicit attitudes cause deliberative behaviors and implicit attitudes cause spontaneous behavior. When someone is fully aware of their feelings and understand the situation, they are in the act more deliberately, in hope for little to no consequences. Although being unaware of nonverbal tendencies can cause others to feel uncomfortable or upset. I believe the author’s theory was spot on and they took every necessary action possible to create an accurate result. In understanding the challenges that occur in interracial interaction, the authors were able to focus on the small details that would ultimately lead them to their conclusion. I believe the theory to be accurate because in any interaction when we are aware of how we want to be portrayed then we monitor our actions. Yet, when we’re are saying one thing and our body language is showing something else, the other person involved can see right through that and become uncomfortable. There were some limitations to this study which ultimately didn’t affect the outcome but must be taken into consideration. There is no specific way to measure deliberative or spontaneous behavior. The study was based on observations from outside participants, which means anyone can control there actions and attitudes towards someone given the situation. For future experimentation, the focus on verbal and nonverbal behaviors must be analyzed more thoroughly. One thing I would change in the study would be the coders because using white female observers could ultimately contradict the whole experiment. I would conduct this study in less of a controlled setting and allow for observation of a participant in a public setting. I believe that by control the whole study, it could affect the behaviors of the people evolved, whereas if the participants were interaction randomly, then there would more obvious
