Dear Bishop Kevin W. Vann,

My name is Gabriella Sanchez and I am a member of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church. I want to receive the sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 because I want to leave a permanent mark on my soul that will help me feel more connected to my faith. Confirmation is known to give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are wisdom, understanding and knowledge. This will help me live a more enjoyable and healthier lifestyle because it allows us to experience God’s grace. Furthermore, this sacrament will provide me a pathway with positivity and a community of people who believe in God’s teachings and live spiritually.

While at mass, I try to take the time to memorize all of the responses. When I first began my confirmation journey, I struggled to accept Jesus in my heart. In other words, it took some time for me to feel secure with my religion and to find motivation to continue practicing my Catholic faith. Now I understand how important it is to be a firm believer that God’s influence will permanently be in our lives. During my retreat, I had a wonderful experience that I was not expecting. For most of us, we thought that this retreat would be spending our time reading the bible and analyzing readings. However, it was nothing like that but reconnecting spiritually with our faith and admiring our lives with nature. It allowed me to view the world around me without technology or loud surroundings. The retreat opened my eyes to learn about my faith life when we were asked to let out anything we wanted and I decided to speak about how I’m scared about my future and our group leader told me that god would be my side and lead me towards a bright pathway.
