Personally, I first noticed this divide with students that could not make friends as easily due to the negativity surrounding their place of birth. These same students grow older feeling insecure and ashamed of who they are, which creates a major issue since they are a part of this country 's future and could contribute to society in ways that would prove beneficial to the United States ' growth. I write this not as an Egyptian citizen, but rather as an individual that is worried about his homeland country’s future. Egypt is a nation that has many communities and therefore different cultures, beliefs and opinions. These different cultures form the final Egyptian culture with its traditions and customs. The citizens of Egypt are very proud of their culture and are trying to protect it from external modifications. Nevertheless, Egypt needs to integrate itself with diverse cultures as it is in the process of developing and needs to reshape and gain specific habits in order to advance.
Each individual has their own different social identity. One’s social identity is constructed based on the different influences around them. The development of social identity is influenced by various factors such as the historical, cultural and religious beliefs of the society, community or family where one is brought up. As established in the previous paper, globalization has a major impact on the individuals and society as a whole. It reshapes social structures and significantly alters the social experiences of the people. Social phenomena such as intersocietal as well as intrasocietal inequality and conflict are associated with the increased connectivity of the world. Cultural exchange programs are for connecting, enriching and empowering the global community. Cultural exchange programs expose students to people from different cultural, geographic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and provide the opportunity for students to develop a greater understanding of diversity both in their home country and visiting country. Cultural Exchange Program allows students to interact with and learn from people who are different from themselves and to participate in new and distinctive experiences beyond their own communities. Cultural exchange helps students to develop positive relationships with others, understand a broader range of perspectives, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for participation in our multicultural society.
