The significant of environmental law and policies in Bhutan is concern with the maintenance and protection of the natural environment of a country. Policies development occurs in many government sector to overcome issues and impacts of sustainable environment. Bhutan is a small Himalayan covering and area of 38,394 sq km with a population of 684,982[population and housing census 2005] and recognizes that preservation of environment is an essential for economic and spiritual development, poverty reduction and also a road towards gross national happiness.

The issues of environment like degradation of forests, over use of timbers and pollution were to be seen more across the country. This use of unlimited resource resulted in countries resources degradation and problems like landslides, climate change etc. Government started researching on such issues and started implementing the plans policies and laws over the country, adaptation of such rules and regulation towards environment brought drastically change showing the effectiveness of those newly implemented laws and practices .

Government implemented laws and policies of environment and analyze the significant of laws and policies towards sustainable environment progamme.
