Nowadays technology plays a vital role in people’s lives. People use technologies everywhere: work, education , social life and etc. One of the biggest technology advancement is smartphone technologies, which have brought out a massive impact in people’s lives. People around the globe can easily get connected with each other through phone, text messages, email and other services. Smartphones provide an opportunity to look up information, do researchers, which save people’s time and money. Many devices come with a wide number of tools that might increase people’s productivity. You do not have to spend a time to re-write things from a calendar, information from notes. You do not have to retype contact list manually, everything can be synced with your computer or be saved on cloud storage. There are many applications that allowing employees to access information while on an off-site job, vacation or at home. Lastly another main function (in my opinion) that smartphones serve is photos and videos function. “The study found that 92% of smartphone users use their phones to take pictures. 80% of users go on to send their photos elsewhere after they’re snapped.” (The Importance of Cameras in the Smartphone War, Feb.12, 2015, web.). For many people, these two functions are very important because people want to capture every moment of their life or post it on Facebook, Instagram or any other social network. Some people are addicted from their phones, which negatively affects the human relationship. According to a 2011 survey by the U.K.’s communications regulator Ofcom, 51 percent of adults and 65 percent of teenagers said they have used their smartphone while socializing with others. This proves that even when people are having face-to-face communication, they are constantly distracted by their phone” ( Negative impacts of smartphones, July 10, 2015, web.)
Text and talk while driving are the other negative side of smartphones. Sometimes people think that if they will respond to a message very quick or answer the phone while driving they will not get in any troubles. But not paying attention on the road even for a few second can cause car accident which can easily cost you your life or the life of someone else.
As I mentioned before, smartphones can increase your productivity , but some people believe that smartphones can decrease it by distracting you from important tasks. For example, when I do my homework I turn off my cell phone. Social networks, alerts, messages and phone calls are distracting me. That is why I put either in a silent mode or turn it off so I can pay all my attention to reading or
