Strength (Component of fitness)-Power Power is the product of strength and speed, i.e. strength x speed. Power is important in rowing as a bow it is a necessity because the stroke is focusing on keeping a constant rate the bows job is push hard and create distance in the race. To have a bow with good power could mean that they have a good start which will create a good lead and could decide at a early stage who wins. Recently my power has been an attribute during the St Neotts regatta where as the stroke I had was at my aerobic training zone (60-80% of my max heart rate)thus I had energy spare and at the end of the race I started to work in my anaerobic zone (80%-100% of my maximum heart rate) and I powered through till the end and beat the …show more content…
Muscular endurance is relevant to rowing because you need to have good muscular endurance to have strong strokes and fast ones. Rowing can be a physical sport so to consistently have a full and proper race you need to have good muscular endurance to avoid fatigue. Recently my muscular endurance has become a problem during a race when I was at the MK regatta and because the opposition was considerably older and better then me at rowing I had used all my power at the start of the race and my opposition was still next to me I had foolishly used all my energy so I had lactic acid in my muscles after the first 500M and because my muscular endurance is weaker compared to my power I was very fatigued. So for the rest of the race I was relying on my teammate to push harder, but obviously we lost the race by quite a lot. If I had a better muscular endurance I would of been able to row better for the rest of the race and may of even won that race. This also happened at the Northampton Head when I at the end I pushed too hard at the end thus I was too tired and fatigued by the end of the race so my time was
