The college admission process is a stressful time for many students planning on pursuing a higher education after high school. Last class we watched a documentary called In 500 Words or Less about 4 teens and their personal experiences throughout the college admission process. These 4 teens all had different obstacles and experiences they had to face. After watching all their experiences it is clear they can all agree the fear of the unknown is the most challenging aspect of the college admissions process along with the stress of their parents and the pressure of committing to a college. One of the characters in the movie, Michael, lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is a senior in High School attending a Christian Private School. …show more content…

The first letter Michael received was from Georgetown University saying he had been accepted, he was relieved. Knowing he had been accepted to at least one school can relieve the stress of not being accepted to any. He was excited but, his dream school is Harvard because his sister is currently attending there and his dad attended graduate school there as well. When he applied to Harvard he was put on a waiting list, so the fear of the unknown was present. Later he was denied admission to Harvard but didn’t seem too upset knowing 21,000 students had applied that year. Michael seemed to be one of the most calm students during the whole admissions process. If I were Michael I would have reacted in a similar way. I would of been excited, relieved and had a sense of achievement. Georgetown University is a great school, but being accepted to Harvard would of been better. The known fact of being accepted to one school laid a good foundation if I were to be denied from all the other.However, Michael felt as though he should've continued the legacy of attending Harvard but was not too upset about not attending
