Free College Tuition From Bernie Sanders Bernie Sanders believes that college tuition isn’t in the interest for our country’s future. Bernie Sanders states “It is insane and counter-productive to the best interests of our country and our future, that hundreds of thousands of bright young people cannot afford to go to college” (Bernie). Bernie Sanders’ point is that many of the talented people in our society may not be able to pursue their dreams or pursue their desired job because they and their parents can’t afford college. If Bernie Sanders is right that many Americans can’t afford to go to college, as I think they are, then we need to reassess the popular belief that FAFSA and other scholarships will considerably lower the price for college.
I believe this was his way of showing the importance of women or even persons who were considered lesser in society are just as capable of achieving great things as much as anyone else, despite societal
Former US president, Jimmy Carter, gives us a taste of his own knowledge by keeping us intrigued to the story he tells on his thoughts about the wildlife. Carters purpose is to let people know that they need to have an open eye in what we do around us, we are ruining nature. He creates an appalled tone to make the reader intrigued in a topic we might not all care about. Carter begins to use imagery in his saying to give the reader more than just a read, he wants to make sure we capture all the goodness he has to tell. " Tundra before us became flooded with life with the sounds of grunting animals and clicking hooves filing the air."
In choosing to juxtapose the words “dirt roads and grassless yards” (par. 1) and “lush green yards” (par. 1), the author showed the depressing tone. These words compare what the narrator lives in, a poor and dirty environment, to what she does not have, a clean and rich community. Over the course of the excerpt, the tone became more
Throughout part two in the book, I’ve noticed that he always makes himself seem he is better than others. He makes others feel very low. He butters everyone up, and proves that he is the one sensible soul who determines what type of talent they have. I disagree with this quote as it is contradicting with my personal beliefs. I believe happiness is very important in life.
In the first paragraph, he says “In former days there was little difference between the dwelling dress, food, and environment of the chief and those of his retainers.” Blaming the separation between rich and poor on civilization. In todays society, the rich live in big houses and the poor live in smaller houses. The rich work in fancier workplaces and the poor work in more common workplaces. Also by saying, in paragraph eight, “ This is not wealth, but only competence which it should be the aim of all to acquire.”
In the quote I gathered that Emerson was trying to emphasize that nature has the ability to generate happiness, just like a human being can. Nature can be just a charmful as an average man. This quote most definitely illustrates how there is strong but covert connection among man and nature. Nature, by essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson is an insightful paper that successfully utilizes the personification of nature to accentuate the connection of it to a human.
John Muir states “It seems wonderful that so frail and lovely a plant has such power over human hearts” (Muir). These words create a spiritual mood and make me feel the power of nature. The words “rejoicing”, “glorious” and “cried for joy” add to the mood of the story because they really create the feeling of having joyous revelation when someone is in harmony with nature. Wordsworth, on the other hand, states that “A poet could not but be gay, /In such a jocund company” (Ln 15-16).

Nature is a beautiful component of planet earth which most of us are fortunate to experience; Ralph Waldo Emerson writes about his passion towards the great outdoors in a passage called Nature. Emerson employs metaphors and analogies to portray his emotions towards nature. Emerson begins by writing, “Our age is retrospective. It builds the sepulchres of the fathers.” , this is a metaphor for how we think; all our knowledge is based on what is recorded in the olden days and a majority of our experiences are vicarious instead of firsthand encounters.
Two scholarly writers brilliantly conveyed nature in their own opinion, an essay written by John Miller called, ”The Calypso Borealis," and a poem by William Wordsworth called, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.” Both authors created work that acquires their idea of the beauty of nature while showing their compassion and love for nature. They each endured the essence in their own way. Each author also used their memory as descriptive imagery to creative share the scenery and amazement of their experience. Each individual has their own personal opinion about nature and how they decide to express their feelings can be diverse, and both authors, John Muir and William Wordsworth, expressed their compassion and love for nature in their own way.
In works of literature nature often is romanticized, it is shown as a place of serenity and often the main character can be found there alone. Although many works of literature show romantic qualities the main characters often react differently to their solitude in nature and this is what influences the feeling associated with the piece. In the poems “The Most of It” by Robert Frost, “There Was a Boy” by William Wordsworth, and the short story “Big Two-Hearted River” by Ernest Hemingway, each protagonist reacts slightly differently to their isolation. When reading the short story “Big Two-Hearted River” by Ernest Hemingway and the poem “There Was a Boy” by William Wordsworth the romantic qualities of the two works of literature are strong points
He believes that because humanity has absorbed so many materialistic ideals that the connection between nature and oneself feels absent. “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” instead begins with the discovery of a field of golden daffodils, “fluttering
That reconnection with nature will renew the world for us. The speaker in the next stanzas reflects how he has lost this connection, as his “afflictions bow me down to the earth” (82) and his “viper thoughts” have stolen his “shaping spirit of Imagination” (86). Coleridge speaks of the wind’s inability to raise him out of his
He forgets all his inevitable and depressing and sorrowful conditions in the delightful company of nature. It also developed man’s sense of beauty. It fills man’s heart with heavenly pleasure with he can’t get anywhere under the sun. In the presence of nature a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. Every bit of alternation in the atmosphere in nature gives man happiness.
