The type of individual level incentive pay that is most associated with elementary teachers is bonuses. Teachers received bonuses based on the performance of the students. For example, they will be compensated if all the students passed the standardized exams with a high score or if a student receives an award. Therefore, teachers receiving bonuses is a good approach because it constantly motivates whereas a raise in pay will not because they will still get paid whether they teach or not. On the other hand, one way to tweak this incentive pay is by giving lower and higher bonuses based on the percentage of improvement of students. The benefits that would be more beneficial for elementary teachers would be health insurance, retirement plan, professional development days and making a difference in the lives of the students. First, it’s essential to have a health insurance, because it can protect the employee from high unpredicted medical expenses. Second, having a retirement plan is beneficial for the employee, because he or she can have a better financial future. In other words, the employee doesn’t have to worry about not having money in the future. Third, professional development days is very beneficial, because elementary teachers need to constantly prepare themselves to efficiently teach students. Because, school districts can sometimes change the format of the standardized exams or create new objectives. Lastly, is making a difference in the lives of the students, because teachers will feel satisfied and proud whenever the student has accomplished their goals.
