Have you ever had random people bid you out of your property? The Cherokee have and they weren’t so happy in the process of it happening either. The Georgians wanted the land of the Cherokees, and to make sure they would give it up there was a treaty signed. It was the Cherokees fault for even thinking about giving up their land. The nation was made up of things the Cherokee could call their own. Things like their language and homes. The Georgians came, and forced a decision on them about leaving. They even said they would provide more space and money if the Cherokee decide to leave. The Cherokees shouldn’t have considered moving because the Georgians bribed the Cherokee for their land, the Cherokee created great lives where they were, and the Americans treated them bad in the past.

Everything was going great with the nation the Cherokee started. They had schools, farms for food, and even created their own language. “Cherokees built gristmills, sawmills, and blacksmith shops. They encouraged missionaries to set up schools to educate their children in the English language.”, stated in the article “The Cherokee and the Trail of Tears”. This explains how hard the Cherokee worked to create their nation. Majority of the Cherokee people didn’t want to sign the treaty. Only a couple of chiefs signed it. They probably were thinking it was a good deal but most of them didn’t. In the article, “Allow the Cherokee to Stay”, it states, “The fact that less than 10% of the Cherokee have moved to Indian Territory shows how little support the treaty has.” That explains the unfairness about the treaty. Some Cherokee wanted a new life and more opportunities but that doesn't give them the right to sign the treaty for everyone. Especially since not everyone
