The Industrial Revolution had profound negative effects on society. The Industrial Revolution was where ideas had been always new and there were improvements everywhere. During this time there were factories, railroads, machine-made goods, and many more. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of economic growth, it was actually a negative thing for society. Industrialization’s negative effects were child labor, long working hours, and damage the environment with pollution. The horrendous conditions of child labor were a large effect on society in a negative way. The poem from the of the Industrial Revolution called “My Boy” states,“ tis night when I am free, a stranger I am to my child and he one to me.” (Document 2) In this poem, a mother is talking about how she comes home late from her job and hardly gets to see her son. This is negative because of one does not see their child they won't be able to develop a relationship. This testimony on child labor says,” C: What were your hours of labour in that mill? B: From 5 in the morning till 9 at night, when they were thronged.”(Document 7) If one, especially a child, were to work these amounts of hours, they would be exhausted and worn down all the time.
