From 1793 to 1850, the economy in America began flourishing into more of a capitalist-based marketplace. Americans began to move away from farming to producing goods for sale to those far away, it marked the beginning of the modern industrial economy in America. As industrialization began improving in the northeast, the agricultural realm began to appear and grow in the west and south. It is the innovations in transportation, technology, and markets that allowed the northeast, west, and the south to become more of a capitalist market than ever before. Factories began to spread throughout the north as many factories switched over from water power to steam power. Factories gathered up workers into one area and split up the jobs between those workers. This method resulted in faster production of goods, thus stimulating the economy as it’ll force the west and south to produce more goods in order to accommodate for the factory’s fast production. Because the south only have limited manufacturing abilities, they have to rely on receiving manufactured goods from the north. The south produces two-thirds of the nation’s cotton supply, thus they sell their cotton to the north. This allows textile industries to grow and the prices of textile goods to drop due to the abundance of cotton being supplied. Those out in the west are also an agricultural based economy. They raise crops and cattle in which they then trade it for manufactured goods from the east. As more and more people move out west thanks to cheaper transportation, it allowed for more farms to be set up, leading to surpluses of food to be grown. There were also tons of natural resources that they exported to the east.
