Hunger Games Assignment
1. The Hunger Games is a novel series, published as a film by Gary Ross. He used different film techniques to explore various themes and develop characters in the film. Two major themes are the inequality between rich and poor and the importance of appearances.
2. The annual Hunger Games is a televised event organized by the Capitol where two tributes from each of the twelve districts - one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 - fight to the death until only one remains. When Prim (Katniss’ younger sister) gets chosen at the reaping, Katniss volunteers as tribute and fights in the arena.

3. The Capitol and some of the districts are wealthy while the remaining districts are poor. An example of inequality between the rich and the poor is the availability of food. Katniss is one of the few in her district who can hunt but most people can’t even afford the basic foods, while in the Capitol seems to have an abundance of food.

District twelve is a poor district which means even though the Everdeen family has little; the other families have even less. At an event Katniss attended there was an abundance of food, which made her dislike the Capitol even more because people in her district was starving while they were wasting food.
5. Katniss is a hunter and spends most of her day hunting to sell the meat in order to provide for her family. Hunting animals for food and hunting people in competition is not at all the same to her and is traumatizing to her which makes it a negative connotation when she thinks of hunting where it used to be a positive one.
