For years there has always been inequality towards female athletes compared to men. College and professional sports continue to provide unequal funding, advertising, and pay for women. Typically men are payed more for playing the exact same sport a woman .In return women receive a less amount of pay. Could this be due to how majority of society sees women. Such has society thinking that every woman should be graceful,highly feminine, passive, graceful and weak. Nowhere on that list did you see the adjective “athletic”. Even today women are fighting for equality treated as the professional athletes like they deserve.

As usual there weren 't any stories on women sports.
Due to the fact that so much time is devoted to covering men sports it leaves no time and attention to put towards women. This media problem on women 's sports is important, Messner said. In the sports world there is a greater gap between men and woman athlete earnings than workers in the United States. In which women can earn up to 77 cents for every dollar earned by men according to the Center for American Progress. Though it may not be obvious sexual attractiveness are very important if you 're a female athlete if you want to get sponsorships. Because in order to sell whatever product the athlete will endorse they need to have an appeal factor to help persuade people to buy the product. It 's understandable that a female athlete should care and put effort into her appearance in front of camera. Everywhere she goes she is basically posing for her chance to have a sponsor meaning sponsorships equaling success.
A documentary film titled”Branded” shows and explains the double standards that are held on female athletes and discusses how they not only have to be the best at their sport but be the most attractive so they can get the attention they deserve.The directors of the film Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady tell that female athletes”... they work in equal parts...clearly, winning or being the best isn 't enough for a women to rise to the top of the world 's sports marketing.” Overall the disparity between what male athletes need to do so they can become successful is dramatically
