“Thus with a kiss, I die”. This quote from the story summarizes Romeo and Juliet's fate in the span of 6 words. Throughout the story, Romeo and Juliet explain to each other and the reader that they do not want to live without one another and would rather die than live without each other's presence. Romeo and Juliet's fate has been set since they laid eyes on each other and they wouldn't want to live life without each other's company. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, suggests that one can not change or avoid their fate. In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare uses literary elements such as foreshadowing to convey the idea that fate is inevitable. For instance, in the prologue, the chorus states "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life, whose misadventured piteous overthrows." This means that since birth Romeo and Juliet have been destined to be enemies which ultimately leads to their tragic and untimely death.
