World War One (WW1) began in 1914 and ended in 1918. It was a turning point in world history. More than 15 million people died during WW1, many died during battles which were not won or lost, just ones that left people only dead and wounded. WW1 had involved troops in from around the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania. Most of the fighting took place in Europe and the Middle East.
World War I was a big moment for America, a time when an nation involved itself in world affairs and began the rise to the economic and military power that America is today. The people of America were affected by world war one in many ways. They were first limited to what they could buy including sugar so that they can provide rations for countries. Full freedom for colored people was a problem in other words there were second class citizens. Finally we went into an everlasting chain of fighting were all these countries were fighting and sticking up for each other and it was just a huge big fight that america didn't need to get involved in.
New weapons and technology were enhanced and more progressed. This caused the number of casualties to increase. World war I was the most deadliest war of all. Before the war had started, many European leaders believed if they created a balance of power, it could prevent conflict happening. Although, conflict did follow.
World War 1 was one of the most inclusive and deadly wars in history. The war brought a series if new machines and techniques to warfare. World War 1 was known as the war to end all wars but, sadly it didn’t. The treaty of versailles was not a good plan to ensure peace and prosperity in Europe. The Treaty of Versailles was not a good plan for European peace because all parties that signed the treaty did not agree with it, Germany was forced to pay majority of the debt, and the economy in Europe plumited.
WW1 had a huge impact in america. New technology was invented and political and economic changes happen. Manufacturing, production and efficiency has increased. In world war 1 had an impact on every aspect of society. American felt a good sense of nationalism and patriotism during the war.
World War One was a war unlike any other before or after; as time went on, countries from all around the world were dragged into European affairs, which led to powers exhausting resources to the fullest extent. Total War required all members of society to contribute and take on jobs of much significance that had lasting effects on culture. Throughout World War One both soldiers and civilians endured similar sufferings; however, the roles of each were significantly different from one another and they were affected by the war in various ways.
Although World War One lasted four years it was not until the final year of the war that armies made effective steps in their command system and tactics for the battlefield. Tactical changes such as instead of having a command of more than 100 men to a 10 man squad. Next came the armored cars, submachine guns, and automatic rifles that could be carried around and used by one man throughout the war. World War 1 having many technological advances some of the most important would be rifles and trenches.
World War I saw several different weapon advancements that would literally change the way the war would be fought. The biggest and probably most significant weaponry advancement was the creation of the machine gun at the beginning of the war in 1914. Even though the machine gun had its problems with overheating and jamming, it was still a major killer on the battlefield. The machine gun could fire massive quantities of bullets in just a short amount of time and across a wide area. Unfortunately, the machine gun early on, required teams of men to use it which made the soldiers operating them more exposed to enemy gunfire because they were responsible for reloading and making sure the gun did not malfunction.
Tragedy follows all those who partake in fighting their fellow man and soldiers during World War 1 were no exception. World War 1 was vicious on an unprecedented level, never before seen in battle because of the warfare. In the Victorian era, in Great Britain, citizens were not used to the terror experienced by nerve gas, tanks, and automatic weapons. They found it near impossible to describe the horrors faced by the many brave men and women who served for their country because they lacked the language to do so. This caused a build up of trauma in numbers never before seen in previous wars.
Millions of soldiers and civilians died during The Great War, or World War I. The war also created many new weapons, such as modern machine guns, poison gas, and submarines. World War I, which occurred during 1914 to 1918, had 3 problems that led to war. The problems include nationalism, economic competition, and alliances.
World War I is one of the largest and most violent events in human history. Its reach across the globe is much larger than many seem to think. Most literature along with public knowledge seems to focus on the western front when overall there was 8 major fronts during the First World War. The war’s clash of old tactics with new war machines meant many unneeded casualties. I say unneeded because many think the war was useless, and it proved nothing.
World War One was the first time the world saw what a true war without restraints or mercy causes to the world. Nations didn’t need to have a strong army but a strong ally with whom they can drag down into whatever war they wished to wage upon any nation they had the slightest disagreement to justify the bloodshed and the loss of the basic human nature leaving soldiers with nothing more than memories of the barbaric actions they had implemented into the war just because a country wished to obtain the spoils of war. World War One came as the first war were the mass production of the war machine came into the world making countries able to mobilize more than 5 million armed troops into war not even with the necessity of rationing weapons, ammunition, or uniforms because of the ease nations had on placing all of their production into the war effort thus making it possible for countries to now mobilize such immense number of armed troops into a war.
Going into the 20th Century from the Victorian Age, there was doubt and alienation as Great Britain was the world's first superpower, the world was having trouble as Great Britain and many other countries had colonized the world, and then left it in shambles. World War I started after a series of events happened, like the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, and war to break out between the countries of the world. During WWI, the Romantic notion of people dying for their country and fighting for what you believe in went away. WWI was surrounded with modern techs such as mustard gas, barbed wire, explosive bullets, trench warfare, tanks, and flamethrowers in total seven million people died. After a while, the soldiers fighting could find no reason to keep going on in the war to rally behind and went into battle that was meaningless lead by the society leaders.
