Influenza Research

Influenza also known as the flu is caused by viruses which infect the respiratory tract. Most flu symptoms are fever, sore throat, headaches, coughing, and in extreme cases fatigue. Usually after one or two weeks of having the flu you recover. But for some people the flu is life threatening causing pneumonia.(Influenza, 2015)

Influenza is caused by type A, B, and C virus. Type A virus is mainly in animals while type B virus is only in humans. The main cause is spreading through person to person contact. Examples of this is coughing and sneezing. Touching surfaces and touching the mouth and nose also cause the flu to spread.(Influenza, 2015) It is spread through air droplets when someone with the virus opens their mouth. People are usually contagious from when symptoms first start until about ten days after they begin.(Influenza, 2015)

You can easily treat the symptoms of influenza but the flu still lives in your body. Treatment is usually resting your body until you feel much better. Drinking lots of fluids helps with keeping you from being dehydrated. Medicines such as tylenol helps with fever and headaches. Also there is antiviral treatment. The other best way would be to control the spread of germs. Controlling the spread of germs is easy if you wash your hands, contain your coughs and sneezes, and avoiding crowds. Washing your hands frequently helps keeping the germs from spreading as well as covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze and cough.(Seasonal Flu, 2015) The flu isn't 100 percent preventable so it is very important to take the smallest precautions when in flu season.
