Introduction Technology is all around us, and is constantly changing. Librarians must be aware of its constant changes and what it can mean for libraries. Technology is inevitable and part of our daily lives. Hirsh (2015) adds, “All information professionals make use of technology tools in their portfolio of responsibilities, and an understanding of how technology can be leveraged to better serve their communities will help professionals use these tools more effectively. Beyond using technology as part of their daily tasks, some information professionals are responsible for managing some aspect of their organization’s technology tools and infrastructure, making it even more important for these leaders to understand the various ways technology can be used today, and how knowledge of technology trends can guide their decision making” …show more content…
This consisted of me being a peer mentor for incoming Info 203 students. In this experience, I conducted 5 weeks of presenting and producing presentations to in coming students. These presentations consisted of teaching students the basic knowledge of Collaborate. As info 203 ended, this position extended to becoming a teacher’s aid and technical assistant to various professors within the MLIS program, and guest speakers. Through out this class, we also experienced various social media tools. I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge of technological tools. This class also used a social media website called VoiceThread. In this site, students were able to record, write, and even phone in comments to a slide. Aside from being introduced to VoiceThread, this class also allowed me to explore and evaluate various social platforms from WebEx, Adobe Connect, Zoom, and the newest version of Collaborate. Exploring these different types of platforms allowed me to compare and gauge which platform had the best user
