Introduction
World of Warcraft is a popular MMO made by Blizzard and was released on November 23, 2004. During the course of sixteen and a half years since its initial release date, the game has seen six expansions, each adding new lore, areas, quests, races, classes, levels, and much more to the base game. World of Warcraft has had many subscribers with their highest number of paid subscribers reaching as high as twelve million. Even though there are negative connotations surrounding the game such as addiction and people committing suicide over the game, it is undeniable that most people know what World of Warcraft is, even if they have never played it. You will always respawn as a ghost and you are tasked with finding your body and coming back to life. The only downside to dying is that your gear will lose some of its durability which is always easily fixed and often times inexpensive. Chatfield (2009) says it best, “To all intents and purposes, the game was endless.” Even if you manage to reach the maximum level within the game (which is 110 by the way), there is still plenty to do. Whether it’s going through old areas to do quests, level up primary and secondary professions, going through the game’s massive list of achievements, doing raids and dungeons with friends to get better gear, or one of the other many things that World of Warcraft has to offer. If boredom really strikes the player after the endgame, then the option to create more characters is always on the table as well.
