People coughing, people panicking, chaos all over the world. “The world is ending! They’re bombing New Jersey!” The radio drama show was produced by Orson Wells, named, The War of the Worlds, the radio broadcast was so realistic people started evacuating , people thought everything was real. The war of the worlds was a radio broadcast where a script took place on Halloween night live in 1938. Also the setting of the play was New Jersey. The Columbia broadcast was shown to be very realistic and very chaotic. The listeners could have avoided their evacuation if they had listened to the broadcast from the beginning to acknowledge the fact that the broadcast was not real. The sound effects and the "breaking news" interruptions are what threw off …show more content…

The people and the listeners who were listening to that broadcast that Halloween night were so frightened because the script was so real to them. It was so real to them that they thought everything on the script was actually happening, they even started evacuating from their homes. But why? Why did they think it was real? What were the realistic factors?... ...Starting off, the people thought that the live broadcast was real because of the sound effects that were used in it they were so realistic that they made the people sound really harmed. Their were sound effects that went with the script and made it go with everything that made it sound so real, the sounds used were like crashing airplanes, coughing sounds and alot of BOOM! sounds . Another example of why people thought it was real was because of the “Breaking News” announcements that were in the scripts and interrupted the story or the backup story. “breaking news” announcements are usually real, because they are often and only used in serious situations. At last, people thought that the War of the Worlds broadcast was real because people didn’t listen to the whole complete broadcast and in the beginning of the radio show the creators announced that it was created by The columbia Broadcast which was a broadcasting service that everyone new about. The people by not listening to that announcement would have failed to acknowledge that it was just a radio show and all the chaos would have been
