However actions have been taken, such as providing screens between games that demonstrate the professional player’s statistics in an effort to help those who may not be as informed on the game, understand why they are incredible players. An example of this would be with the game Starcraft 2 from Blizzard Entertainment. Starcraft 2 is a world renowned game that is known for being an incredibly fast game that requires high actions per minute or as it is commonly abbreviated, APM. The average player of Starcraft 2 has reportedly around fifty to one hundred actions per minute. From an outside perspective this can seem actually quite fast as this can translate to up to roughly 2 actions per second. However, many starcraft professionals have been recorded to have six hundred actions per minute (Wong). This is five times the amount of actions per second than the average player. The skill gap between these professionals and the average player is increasingly more obvious when one takes into account the other aspects of the game such as the overall strategy involved and not just merely the mechanical skill. With this said, it starts to become more and more apparent why these players are believed to be deserving of millions upon millions of dollars.
