Abstract
Chemotherapy is a primary treatment for cancer. Even though it is a treatment, chemotherapy gives a lot of side effects. Many people have zero knowledge on chemotherapy side effects and do not know what these effects can affect their life. Each drug in chemotherapy can have more than one side effect from common, less common, to rare effects. These side effects also have severity level, from less dangerous to dangerous. The highest possibilities of psychological pains are depression and stress. Patients with cancer normally feel anxiety whether they will survive or not which create stress and depression on their mind (MNT, n.d.). This feeling can increase depend on their condition, such as support from family and family respond toward their cancer, and also their social condition whether they are still accepted in the society or not. Based on many experience, patients tend to be avoided and not accepted in society, specially working place, because of chemotherapy side effects. Concentration and thinking ability reduction are part of factors patients are avoided in working place. Another psychological pain comes from chemotherapy treatment itself. Some treatment only can extend patients life for some months, while still undergo treatments with many side effects, some patients feel hopeless and desperate with their condition (Choices, n.d.). There are several ways to reduce psychological pains, which are full knowledge and realize on what chemotherapy is and its effects, support from family and relatives, and emotional support (Bryant, 2003, pp. 123-124). Another way is to join a support group who undergo chemotherapy in order to get support and also help to get positive thinking where there are still a lot of people who have same illness and still fighting (Choices,
