The First Crusade The topic that I am doing my research paper on is the first crusade which is also known as the People’s Crusade. This was a very large scale war which was conducted on and in various fronts and cities. It was started in 1095 AD by Pope Urban II due to there being a large problem between Muslims, Christians and Jews over who should control Jerusalem and who was allowed into Jerusalem. Once the First Crusades goal was accomplished it lead to there being more bloody and large scale wars to gain or regain control over the holy land (Jerusalem). During this crusade many crusaders were killed along with enormous amounts of Muslim/Jewish soldiers and civilians, most of these casualties were inflicted during the attack on Jerusalem. It was so bad that there was a so called “river of blood one foot deep” after the attack of Jerusalem. This is a brief summary of what this war was. …show more content…

For example, following the first crusade a second crusade was started and caused another massive amount of casualties. Also when this war was ended and the Christians “Opened the Doors” to Jerusalem it led to more goods being traded throughout the world as well as ideas due to the number of people who visit or live in Jerusalem for its religious importance. This war was similar to the first crusade but there was more goals to be accomplished. This had a massive impact on the Christians, Muslims, and Jews. First it caused all three of these religions populations to drop dramatically. Next it caused some Muslim and Jewish families to have to flee their homes to stay safe from the crusaders. Third it caused Jewish and Muslims not to be able to visit their “holy lands”. It also greatly affected parts of Europe because new territory was being taken and led to goods being sent to help the
