A. Attention Getter: There are so many Latin American countries in the world but no country as small as El Salvador has done so much to impact the world.
B. Topic Revelation: Today I will be highlighting some major contributions that El Salvador has contributed to the United States and the world.
C. Relevance Statement/Why are we listening: There are 2.3 million Latinos of Salvadoran origin in the United States, the highest population outside of El Salvador. Across the world there are another 157,000 Salvadorans across 13 European and North and Central American countries. Odds are you know someone from there but know little to nothing about the country they are from.

Dr. Francisco Rubio is the first Salvadoran Heritage astronaut to go into space. He is an accomplished pilot, flight surgeon, and family medical doctor.
Transition Statement- I have talked about 2 major Salvadoran heroes One that helped saved countless lives and another that has gone beyond this earth to make a mark in history.

1. El Salvador is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Joya de Ceren is a Pre-Columbian Mayan farming village nicknamed the “Pompeii of the Americas” because it was preserved perfectly by the Loma Caldera volcano around 600 A.D.
2. San Salvador is the capitol city of El Salvador. It is the oldest capitol city in Central America. Founded in 1524 by Pedro de Alvarado a Spanish conquistador.
Transition Statement-I have brought attention to an important World Heritage Site that compares to one of the greatest archeological discoveries in the world and noted that El Salvador has the oldest capitol city in all of the 7 Central American countries.
