In 1854, Theodore Judah, constructor engineer and surveyor, traveled from the Atlantic to California with the purpose to convert that dream into reality; during his first six years in California, Judah discovered the route for the railroad.

Architecture was a crucial element to the success of two major cites in Europe, Rome and Athens. Each city had structures consisting of formal architecture like temples and basilicas showing the influence that its leaders had over each city, while utilitarian buildings like bridges and aqueducts helped build communication between distant cities throughout each empire. Though architecture as a whole was an important role in unifying the cities, the architecture design within each illustrates the similarities and differences between two.
California is the first state with a mandatory comprehensive cap-and-trade program. The program was introduced in 2012 to help the state lower its greenhouse gas emissions, by having businesses purchase permits for each metric ton emitted. Large companies that emit over 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide must comply with the cap-and-trade program. The permits companies have to purchase once they fall under the program are called allowances, and for every additional ton, an allowance must be purchased. An allowance gives companies a permit to emit one ton of carbon.
