In Central/Eastern Africa, a place with the name of Rwanda, has many different historical events to remember, but especially the Rwandan Genocide. Rwanda is one of the smallest nations on Earth with the size of twenty-six thousand, three hundred thirty-eight square kilometers.(FactsKing) With Rwanda being a “tightly controlled country”, things may not always go as planned.(BBC News) You may have heard of the Rwandan Genocide, and if not then I'm going to discuss it. With laws and a great motto, ¨ "Ubumwe, Umurimo, Gukunda Igihugu", meaning "Unity, Work, Patriotism". Since the Genocide the country has had higher life expectancies and less poverty. In time the country has been able to get back to a more functional society. President, Paul Kagame, the current president of Rwanda has tried to make a more tech efficient economy and has made it clear that disgusting ethnicity is not to done. He claims it's to keep a repeat of the genocide from occurring again. Many of the people who where involved in the genocide or took part in leading have faced consequences with the ones in control. Rwanda has a day of remembrance for the victims of the Rwandan Genocide. They take the day to have candle lights to mourn the loss of the very beloved people who had to fight for the lives of others and themselves. The day is held on April seventh. It was officially made in the year two thousand seven. They also take the day to talk about the effects and of genocide and why they should keep peace and work together as a society.
