Have you ever wondered why National Football League players, known as NFL players, make so much money? I think NFL players should continue to earn such high salaries for the reasons that follow; they entertain millions, risk getting life altering injuries, and create loads of revenue. To put the second reason into perspective, getting tackled by a 300 pound defensive lineman is comparable to getting in a car accident at 30 miles per hour without a seat belt on (Wisconsin Trooper Association). That can happen to just one player upwards of 20 times a game. National Football League players, known as NFL players; deserve as much money as they get because of how they entertain people.
Why collegiate athletes should get paid. Collegiate athletes should get paid. This has been a problem many people are bringing up for discussion. Some do not believe collegiate athletes should get paid because it takes away from the “purity” of the sport or because it wouldn’t be quite “fair” and we would then have to pay high school athletes.
Are you a students-athlete in need of compensation from the sport you love? There is a possibility of getting this kind of money from playing certain levels in sports. Paying college athletes has been and always will be an ongoing argument. I divine that paying these athletes will help students financial futures, help the costs of abrasions to the students themselves, and bring in prodigious amounts of money. Initially, paying college athletes will help them create a sense of financial awareness.
Major football and basketball programs are the only ones which make millions of dollars every year. So, only football and basketball players from major programs deserve to get paid, but this is not fair. It would be unreasonable to the other athletes to only pay football and basketball players because they put in just as much work as football and basketball players. All sports programs have a similar schedule, and they are all demanding.
I agree with the statement that Joe Nocera made because the Miami University scandal was a booster at the university giving athletes money so they could buy stuff during college, it probably would not have completely avoided the subject because the players thought they deserved expensive things because they were bringing in lots of money for the university for their success. Finally, players should get paid for the money they make for their school and the NCAA, but there is also some reasons why they shouldn’t get
If you were a college athlete, would you be satisfied with the NCAA and universities making tons of money while you know you were the reason they make so much in the first place? Do you think the NCAA should pay college players? College athletes should be paid because they bring in so much money to the colleges, universities, and NCAA. They put so much time and work into that sport that they barely focus on school. Most college athletes only go to school to have a better chance of becoming a professional athlete for that sport, especially in basketball and football.
Are they students or employees? They spend more time with the sport than in school. Student athletes should be acknowledged for their performances. College athletes should be paid to play because they bring money into the school, advertisement, and they perform the same tasks of pros. College kids bring in thousands of dollars every game day.
The thesis in this text is clear and noticeable, it is “One of the most controversial questions; Should college athletes be paid?”. It is the second sentence, it states in the beginning what the author will be talking about. The central argument of the essay was why college athletes should not be paid. The author provides support for his opinion by stating some of NCAA’s rules. The author told an anecdote about when he was a college athlete.
Professional coaches and colleges are making millions of dollars in revenue every year from over enthusiastic fans and stage tickets because of sports league . Some people believe that none of the revenue that universities and colleges make, should be dispersed among the students in any way. That means creating laws against giving anything for free to students. They believe that when you pay student athletes to play the sports that they want to learn. It wouldn't be considered a class anymore, instead it would be consider a job which would defeat the purpose of going to college.
, They could die, break bones, lose limbs, or become paralyzed . In the NFL, the athletes are paid millions to play the game. Yet college athletes do not just play sports, they have classes to attend, homework to do, and exams to pass. So they have more on their plate than most pro
“Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants” Money does not generate happiness. It only brings an evil into something that is already great. .The controversy over collegiate athletes being rewarded for their play on the field has grown dramatically.
College athletes deserve to be paid because they are the only ones not being paid in the college sports industry. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) generates eleven billion dollars annually, some of which could, and should go to college athletes. “USA Today reported last year just how much money the top 10 coaches in college football made. Nick Saban from Alabama topped the list earning roughly $5.5 million in 2013 alone” (Seibold). The coaches are making millions of dollars and the players aren’t.
can all agree with me that they get underpaid compared to athletes. The money that can go towards better causes such as donating to the homeless, donating to charities, helping people, etc goes to people playing a game. Do you think that watching a game is more important than helping people that are in poverty? I didn’t think so. Also, athletes didn’t get paid this much before now,
Athletes are paid more than very important jobs such as surgeons, teachers, and even the president! Athletes don’t even do very important things, they merely entertain fans in an arena. Do they save lives, educate our future, or run our country? No, they don’t. Finally, an athlete's salary is more than an average American household makes in a whole decade.
Professional athletes are extremely overpaid for the “jobs” that they do. They only entertain for a living and get paid millions of dollars per season. Each sport is different in how they pay their athletes, and the difference in salaries from one player to another can be in the tens of millions of dollars. These athletes are paid for jobs that they only do for a certain number of games and do not even play the games over the course of an entire year. In most professional sports, they play in games for only a few months and then have a few months off.
